2012 PAS Grant Awards
NYS Office of Children and Family Services awards
Nearly $5 Million Dollars in Post Adoption Services Grants!
As of May 1, 2012, sixteen new or refunded post adoption services programs will be available for families in many areas of the state. The programs, funded for one year with federal TANF dollars to support services for families under 200% of the poverty level, will provide a wide range of services intended to stabilize adoption placements, prevent dissolutions and disruptions, and provide assistance to families so that children may be cared for in their own homes or homes of their relatives. Core services provided by grantees in 27 NYS counties will include:
- Parent education and training
- Supportive services for parents and for children (i.e., support groups and group activities)
- Information and referral services
- Clinical mental health services and family counseling (either direct service provision or referral to community based providers)
- Advocacy services
The funds were appropriated by the NYS legislature state budget as a result of NYSCCC advocacy and the efforts of other supporters around the state. Thank you for your support. Together, we made a difference. We also send our congratulations to theĀ agencies that received the 2012 awards.
