Roberta Bentz-Letts Memorial Scholarships for NYC Area Parents – Roberta Bentz-Letts was the founder of Adoptive Families of Older Children, a parent support group in New York City.  After her too-early death in 2010 at age 66, her family established three NYSCCC conference scholarships in her memory to enable foster and adoptive parents to attend the annual conference who would not otherwise be able to go because of financial need.  Bentz-Letts Scholarships will cover the 2-day registration fee, a complimentary membership in NYSCCC, one night’s lodging, and up to $100 in transportation reimbursement. Persons eligible to apply are adoptive or foster parents of children under the age of 21 living in the NY City metropolitan area. Preference criteria include: first-time attendance at the NYSCCC conference; families of color, families of foster/adoptive children with documented histories of physical, sexual or psychological trauma and abuse; families of children five years or older in adoptive or pre-adoptive placement; and single parent families.
